Hi,

I'm investigating the poteintial for using prism pack across our school network and have been testing it with a newly purchased application "the games factory 2" however despite several attempts to convert the prism package to msi all i end up with is a package that installs but does not run.

During the build I get the following messages, firstly something about the trial version not supporting adverts of self repairing shortcuts and then these....

Warning: M4023: Found multiple-user variable Common Desktop: installation will be ALLUSERS.
Warning: M4023: Found multiple-user variable Common Start Menu Programs: installation will be ALLUSERS.
Warning: M4066: Windows Installer files created by an evaluation version of the program do not support advertising or self-repairing shortcuts.
Warning: M5084: Failed to add icon for shortcut to C:\Program Files\The Games Factory 2\License.txt.
Warning: M5084: Failed to add icon for shortcut to C:\Program Files\The Games Factory 2\Manual.pdf.
Warning: M5084: Failed to add icon for shortcut to C:\Program Files\The Games Factory 2\Readme.txt.
Warning: Evaluation file created: will expire after evaluation period ends.
Warning: Conversion complete: warnings found during translation.

When the installed application is run the splash screen appears but registration details are garbled and then nothing else happens, any ideas?

We've tested using an evaluation version of Games Factory 2 and have reproduced similar behavior. Our tests used both Prism's native .PWC and a converted .MSI.  It's possible that  the application has some tie-in to the hardware system it was originally installed on, and when you try to move that package to different hardware it won't work.

We recommend that you contact Clickteam's support group to see what their recommendation is for deploying Game Factory 2 to multiple computers in an enterprise. Let us know what you learn.

The error messages that you see when converting the package to MSI are as expected. They are all just warning messages and are not the cause of the application's failure to run.
