I have two folders (McAfee and Microsoft) that continue to appear within a package.  They are under the heading "COMPUTER\Program Data\"

When I look at the path or MS-DOS name - for instance McAfee, it says "APPLIC~1\MCAFEE"

How do I exclude this in the rules.ini file if I do not know the absolute path or where it is gathering the data from?  From what I can tell, the folder COMPUTER is a special variable.  Where is it getting the data?

COMPUTER\Program Data refers to C:\ProgramData\

So that means you can build out the folders you do not want it to capture in your packages such as these examples;

C:\ProgramData\Folder1

C:\ProgramData\Folder2

In the Rules.ini file, there is a section labled "Ignore Folders", you can add in the paths to those 2 locations like this

[Ignore Folders]

; This section tells Prism Deploy which folders to ignore when
; taking pictures and finding changes.  Any folder that contains the specified
; name is ignored.  Each line can optionally end with a file specification
; telling Prism Deploy which files within the specified folder are to be
; ignored.

Key=%RECENT%
Key=%TEMP%
Key=TEMPORARY INTERNET FILES
Key=\RECYCLED
Key=\RECYCLER
Key=\_RESTORE
Key=C:\ProgramData\Folder1
Key=C:\ProgramData\Folder2

Remember that you must save the Rules.ini then restart any running Deploy Editors before you start creating any new packages so this change will be set.

Do you mean C:\Program Files?

I do not have a C:\ProgramData on my XP machine.

See, here is where I get confused.  Assuming you are talking about C:\Program Files, I have McAfee that pops up every time under Computer\Program Data\McAfee\Common Framework\DB and another folder under \Common Framework\ called Task.

If I go to C:\Program Files\McAfee\Common Framework, I don't see a DB folder nor a Task folder (I don't see files by this name either).  This is what leads me to believe that the files are somewhere else.  I've tried going through the command prompt to these folders and they don't show up, they don't show up under hidden files either.

It is also referring to a \Computer\Program Data\Microsoft\Group Policy folder but I do not have a C:\Program Files\Microsoft folder.

Might they be somewhere else?

ProgramData is equivilent to "C:\Documents and Settings\<current user>\Application Data\" in XP

I have a feeling that folder structure is somewhere within C:\Documents and Settings\All users\Appplication Data\, it should be under all users which makes the most sense for the McAfee DB to be rather than a particular user.

If you can't find it there, you will need to do a search for "Common Framework\DB" to figure out where it is coming from.  Once we figure that out, then you can safely add that full path into the Rules.ini
